These include aspects such as mentorship, women mentorship, leadership roles, and career advancement. To develop further the study’s argument and deliver more understanding on mentorship opportunity and value in advancing women in organizational leadership roles; there are subsections on the importance of mentorship and how it has emerged as a key issue, why women still fall behind and mentoring in the digital era. Furthermore, the study discusses methodologies and instruments utilized in prior studies connected with how the methodology and instruments for this study were chosen. Thereafter, a summary of the chapter provided.

The literature review was conducted through a systematic review of peer-reviewed journal papers linked to this study, that were searched from electronic databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest. The literature review addresses two major concepts: mentorship opportunity and career advancement for women. Therefore, the keywords used for the search included words related to the two concepts. The general search included papers on mentoring women, career advancement, and male vs. female mentors, the role of mentorship in career advancement, and the efficacy of female leadership. Furthermore, the researcher examined more resources and papers through the reference list of the identified papers and focused on studies published within 2015 and 2021 to understand how studies have developed and the core components of the theoretical foundations guiding the study.
