The criminal justice profession is evolving and its decision-making processes will be affected. Ethics will play a key role in influencing the manner in which decisions are made in the future. Leaders will have to be ethical and therefore expect that those working under them follow suit. Policies will have to include ethical aspects in order to ensure that no one is affected negatively. In addition, the code of ethics that exists in the profession of criminal justice has to be reviewed. It will ensure that new ethical procedures and standards are met when engaging in decision-making (Fairholm, 2004). Therefore, I recommend that all professionals be trained on the importance of ethics in decision-making. Lastly, the public should have a say in matters that concern them. In turn, effective leadership and ethics will thrive in the profession of criminal justice.
