Christianity, Islam and Judaism
Christianity and Islam are the largest modes of worship or religion globally and they both share a historical relation though they have major theological distinctions. The two faiths have a common root in the Middle East and they are considered monotheistic. Christianity is said to have emanated from a monotheistic religion and is said to Abrahamic that developed from the second temple Judaism. It is based on the life, teachings, death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ with its followers known as Christians. Islamic, on the other hand, is Abrahamic and developed later after Christianity. Islam means submission to God and it is based on the teachings of Muhammad who surrendered to the will of God. Islamic followers are known as Muslims. Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion that emanated on the eastern side of the Mediterranean. Abraham was considered to be the first Jew who made a covenant with the creator. All the religions are Abrahamic.
The academic study of the three traditions has added something to my knowledge of the religion such as they have been kept in shape by not only theology and faith but by historical predicaments in which they were formed in. history is the fundamental key to the religious understanding of any religion and possesses the social, economic and political background. The religions have been experiencing conflicts between one another. However, peace dialogues and treaties have been signed to minimize the non-belligerency members of the three religions. Members have found themselves in a situation that they can build their traditions with a general heritage and common experience. The religions have been spreading to different parts of the world that have been proving intellectual challenge among the three tribes (Peters, 2018). The religions have been intermixed with indigenous cultures that have resulted in ecumenical dialogues that facilitate understanding without conversion.
